FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I separate
materials?
Commingle paper, plastics, and cans. Place glass bottles in a separate bag
or container.
How do I prepare materials?
Break down all boxes flat; rinse containers that
contained food; and discard plastic lids. Leave the rest of the sorting
and preparation to EarthSavers.
What type of containers can I use to store recyclables?
Corrugated boxes, plastic bins, or bags—any container you prefer to use.
Where do I place my recyclables for pickup?
You are welcome to place the materials anywhere around the exterior of
your house, near the driveway, by the garage, or on a walkway—wherever
is most convenient for you. During inclement weather, please protect paper
from precipitation.
Where does EarthSavers take the materials?
All the Standard Service material goes to a sorting plant for recyclables
and then to companies that process and use the materials to make new
products. The
additional materials collected for the Premium Service go to various
companies that either do the recycling themselves or trade with companies
who recycle. Clothing, shoes, eyeglasses, books, and working electronics
are donated to charity to be reused.
